Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, there will be NO Camping In The Park, the Kids Fish Pen or the Fishermens Breakfast this year. We look forward to a more normal 2022 event!!
But the GOOD news is we still have ways that folks can participate in the spirit of the Derby!
Anglers:
During the week of April 19th download the “Wide Open Fishing” app and look for the Lake Wilderness Derby Tournament. Pay $10 to register for the tournament. The Derby will run between 6am April 24th) through 5pm on Sunday, May 2nd. If you catch a fish on Lake Wilderness, take it to the Hooked on Fishing Banners located at the Boat Launch or at the Beach House and take your picture holding your fish. Submit that photo to the Lake Wilderness Fishing Derby Tournament on the “Wide Open Fishing” app and that will be your entry into the Derby. Cash prizes (amounts are based on the number of people that register for the tournament) will be randomly awarded to 3 people. There will also be 5 other fishing related prizes awarded randomly.
Additional Opportunities for Anglers:
Tagged fish will be released into Lake Wilderness prior to opening season. If caught between 6am April 24th and 5pm Sunday, May 2nd and verified by the Maple Valley Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce, the angler will receive a cash prize of $200. Please email info@maplevalleychamber.org with a photo of the fish’s tag to verify and receive award. No purchase of Tagged Fish ticket necessary this year.
Non Anglers:
Stop down to Lake Wilderness Park between 6am April 24 and 5pm on Sunday, May 2nd and stand in front of the “Hooked on Fishing” banner located at the Boat Launch or at the Beach House. Take a picture of you giving us your best “fish face”. Post the picture to the 2021 “Hooked on Fishing”
Facebook page and this is your entry for random drawings (TBD).
We look forward to 2022 when we can bring back Camping In The Park, the Kids Fish Pen and the Fishermens Breakfast!
