Cymbeline
Written by William Shakespeare, Cymbeline is set in Ancient Britain and based on legends that formed part of the Matter of Britain. Although listed as a tragedy, modern critics classify this play as a romantic comedy. Cymbeline, the Roman Empire's vassal king of Britain once had two sons who were stolen twenty years earlier as infants now discovers that his only child left, his daughter Imogen, has secretly married her lover Posthumus Leonatus. Posthumus is then banished from the land lending time for the wicked step mother, Cymbeline's Queen, to conspire to gain control of the kingdom. Imogen sets out to save herself and finds many truths along her journey that allow her to be with her true love and bring happiness to the kingdom.
