It's our favorite time of year - Wacky & Wild time! The Chamber's Wacky & Wild Golf Challenge is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19th at Lake Wilderness Golf Course. Sponsored by UW Medicine -Valley Medical Center, it's a day filled with fun, networking and golf (sort of). Get a foursome together and hit the links! Due to COVID-19 the Challenge will run a bit different than year's past but it's still a great opportunity to get outside and play some golf with friends. City of Maple Valley to Reimburse Businesses for Additional PPE Needs

For any additional PPE supplies that businesses need for re-opening, the City of Maple Valley will reimburse eligible businesses up to, however, not exceeding $300.00 per business. Please visit the Association of Washington Business PPE Connect website at www.reboundandrecovery.org/ppe-connect to locate a supplier that can assist you with your PPE needs. Note: If you purchase items directly from a supplier, please submit your receipt to the City for reimbursement. If a business doesn't have the funds available upfront to purchase the PPE supplies needed, they can submit a copy of their invoice (with the price quote) so that funds can be issued to allow the business to place their PPE order. Please submit any receipts or invoices for reimbursement to Finance2@maplevalleywa.gov Note: Your W-9 Form (Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) and Maple Valley Business License Number (UBI number) need to be submitted along with your PPE receipts. If your organization is exempt, a UBI number is not required. Please include an Invoice Number that is generated by your organization when submitting your documents for reimbursement.

City of Maple Valley City Council Passes Temporary Sign Ordinace

Maple Valley, Wash. - June 9, 2020 - The City of Maple Valley City Council adopted Ordinance O-20-700 at the Council meeting on Monday, June 8 which waives fees and permit requirements for temporary banner/special sales signs for a period of 90 days. Waiving the $25 fee associated with obtaining a temporary sign permit will assist in the recovery efforts of Maple Valley businesses who were impacted by the mandates related to COVID-19, including business closures. This temporary request was initiated by the Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce. Waiving the permitting requirements will allow Maple Valley business to erect signs swiftly without delays in order to attract customers to their respective businesses. The substantive requirements of the City's sign code are still required to be met by businesses and failure to do so may lead to code enforcement actions. In addition, no more than two temporary signs per business are allowed by City code Questions and site plans should be directed to Matt Torpey, Community Development Manager, at matt.torpey@maplevalleywa.gov or 425-413-8800.

Gov. Inslee Announces Statewide Mask Mandate

Yesterday afternoon Gov. Inslee announced that starting Friday, June 26th everyone will be required to wear a facial covering when outside their home and in public. The governor said there are exemptions to the facial covering rule, including: People who can't wear masks because of existing medical conditions. Children 5 years old and younger. People who are deaf or need to have their mouth uncovered in order to communicate. When it is onerous to do so, including customers who are eating out at a restaurant.
