VMP is a fast-growing, faith-based nonprofit company devoted to ending family homelessness in South King County. We serve homeless and vulnerable single parent families and their children providing housing services, workforce development, financial empowerment, behavioral health support, life skills and child & youth programs. Our approach offers safety, provides stability and equips to self-sufficiency. Due to the homelessness crisis in King County, VMP is expanding to serve more families in need. Families show great success in the program: 91% maintain stable housing one year after exiting the program.

Job Summary
The Intake & Engagement Specialist (IES) conducts the day-to-day intake operations, including initial phone/application screening, scheduling clients, conducting UAs and launching clients into the VMP programs. The IES screens phone calls and walk ins with individuals facing homelessness, experiencing domestic violence and experiencing trauma and high levels of stress. The IES provides resources and directs potential clients on how to apply to VMP for services. The IES utilizes an electronic database to assess applications, activate clients and log call backs. The IES meets with clients to launch them into program services, collecting the necessary paperwork and connecting the clients with their specialists. The IES will perform all aspects of the intro class which introduce the clients to all the programs available to them at VMP. This role is a foundational part of the success of single-parent families reaching their goal of self-sufficiency and stable housing while in the program.

Responsibilities
• Conduct initial phone screens, engaging with prospective clients to determine their needs, help with application process and/or provide additional community resources.
• Connect with prospective client walk ins and provide additional guidance and assistance with the electronic application profess if needed.
• Review applications, complete scorecard and barrier assessments and determine who to schedule for launch into VMP program.
• Schedule and conduct initial client launch; gather, complete and process required paperwork, conduct confidential UA, evaluate housing need and assess reasonability of rent expense.
• Process client applicants in electronic database; activate and create Client Profiles, assign specialists, scan and post documents, maintain intake reports and maintain client contacts through exit and follow up.
• Conduct annual call backs, following up with clients one year after exiting the program.
• Lead all aspects of intro class including reminder texts, prepare all paperwork, lead the class and reschedules.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree to the VMP Statement of Faith.
• Be passionate about helping families overcome the trauma of homelessness.
• Embrace diversity and work effectively with a diverse team of professionals; sensitivity to the needs of clients, staff and volunteers from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), internet navigation and general computer skills.
• Experience or ability to learn electronic client database.
• Sensitivity to the needs of clients who are homeless, low income, limited English speaking or impacted by domestic violence and substance abuse in the family unit.
• Experience providing services to at-risk and culturally diverse populations, especially families with children.
Preferred Qualifications
• Education in social work, counseling or related social services field.
• Experience with client recruitment, assessment and program referrals; records maintenance; and appointment coordination.
