Job Description:

The Community Resource Coordinator position is a collaboration between the Tahoma School District (TSD) and the City of Maple Valley (City). The Community Resource Coordinator will work with the TSD and the City in the development of programs, projects and training which specifically address mental health awareness/education and access to school based and community resources. Under the direction of the Human Resources & Risk Mgt. Director, this position will identify, coordinate and build collaborative relationships with a variety of resources and programs (i.e., schools, counseling, community centers, housing/shelters, churches, food banks, businesses…) for the purpose of providing resources to the City and the greater Maple Valley area both in emergency and non-emergency events. Responsibilities and duties include providing program and resource education and training to the schools/community, working with emergency management and crisis response teams, identifying, and working with volunteers, and other duties as assigned. This position may work with sensitive and confidential information. This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position, not eligible for overtime compensation.


The Community Resources Coordinator duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Tahoma School District:
• Plan, organize, coordinate, promote programs and education outreach regarding available resources to students, parents, and staff, including the stigma
related to mental health issues and barriers to access resources
• Work with students, parents, staff and emergency management personnel in crisis and non-crisis situations to provide appropriate resource information and
• Provide up-to-date and appropriate resource referrals in person, over the phone and via email to connect students, staff and parents seeking resources
• Participates in regular meetings with the Tahoma School District Wellness Coordinator
• Maintain confidentiality standards while performing related duties, projects or assignment

City of Maple Valley:
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and promote available resources to the City of Maple Valley residents as well as the greater Maple Valley community
• Provide up-to-date and appropriate resource referrals in person, over the phone and via email to connect community members seeking resources
• Work with community stakeholders to evaluate ongoing community resource needs and trends; and respond to changes within the community
• Serves as a City liaison with community groups, businesses, groups, and organizations; attends community committee meetings as needed
• Plans, coordinates, promotes, publicizes, and implements community wide programs and events that generate community relationships, involvement, and
• Represents the community at applicable regional forums, meetings and conferences and may participate as a member on committees and subcommittees
• Works in partnership with the REACH committee to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & justice initiatives both within citywide programs and with City
employees, policies, procedures etc…
• Works in partnership with the City Wellness committee to promote employee health & wellness

Tahoma School District & City of Maple Valley:
• Coordination of programs and activities with local and regional agencies, businesses, schools, emergency management etc…
• Maintain and update a Master list of available resources and how to access them
• Plans and organizes work to meet established deadlines and goals
• Promote and provide outreach and educational materials related to community resources, services, and programs
• Makes presentations as needed (i.e., City Council, Tahoma School Dist. Board, Community groups etc…)
• Develop, organize, prepare, and present required reports
• May make recommendations to budget preparation as needed
• May oversee temporary employees and volunteers
• Works independently; may be required to work on some weekends and evenings
• Perform other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include:
• Competency in personal computer and software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, other as determined) and the ability to create, maintain,
and manipulate databases
• Strong knowledge of English composition, spelling, and grammar; ability to compose and edit various written materials such as reports, correspondence, and
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Present resource information both in individual and public settings
• Carry out assigned projects to completion
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Maintain confidential and sensitive information
• Enter data, maintain records, and generate reports
• Be accurate and precise, detail oriented
• Respond tactfully and courteously in all situations
