Cronin Athletics opens in Black Diamond

You will no doubt recognize Shane and Olivia Cronin who just opened their new family-owned business, Cronin Athletics, in Black Diamond.  They are long-time residents of the greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond community. Shane graduated from Kentridge and has played Baseball since he was 6, and Olivia is a Tahoma grad and a former PE teacher in the Tahoma School District for thirteen years.   Now they have teamed-up to open Cronin Athletics to provide an up-beat environment for kids to gain confidence and improve in athletics while growing as individuals.

The training available at Cronin’s includes Baseball/Softball training, speed and agility. Shane describes Cronin Athletics as a family influenced business that uses all the benefits and attributes that sports can provide with a positive and an exemplary template for young athletic students to flourish.  Shane explains that Cronin Athletics is unique, “You’re not going to find a place that has all of these in one, with qualified and experienced instructors that place the kids first.”

With 10 year’s professional experience as a Baseball player and 4 years in U.S. Army, Shane Cronin is the lead instructor specializing in Baseball and speed and agility training.  Shane has been involved in sports his whole life, finalizing his senior year at Kentridge High School as a 1st Team Quarterback (leading his team to a playoff berth for the first time in 20 years) and All-State Baseball player.

As a Tahoma High School student athlete, Olivia Cronin earned twelve Varsity letters and was also team captain in soccer, basketball, and track and field as well. She earned a cross country/track and field scholarship for Pacific Lutheran University where she received her teaching certification in Physical Education and later returned to school to earn her Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Education.

Another Cronin Athletic team member is Katie Holmes, a graduate of Central Washington University where she received her B.S. in Health and Physical Education with a certification to teach grades K-12.  She has an intense passion for sports and leading a healthy lifestyle. In High School and college she was an active participant in various sports where she excelled in Fast pitch.

Team member Ian Harrington brings to Cronin Athletics his passion and excellence in Baseball starring as a pitcher at Kentridge High School, Bellevue Community College with years of playing experience at the University of Hawaii, Yakima Bears, South Bend Silver Hawks, Tucson Sidewinders and as a draft pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2004 and later by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2007.
