City Launches Surveys to Assist with Economic Recovery - The City of Maple Valley has entered into an agreement with the University of Washington - Tacoma Office of Community Partnerships, under the leadership of Dr. Ali Modarres, to conduct and manage a survey project consisting of a Business and a Resident Survey being launched today. The purpose of this project is to get a better assessment on the current state of business in Maple Valley and to learn more about the residents who commute outside of Maple Valley for work. The data collected from both surveys will enable the City's Economic Development Commission to strategize and develop a plan for business recruitment, retention, and resiliency during this business recovery period. Both surveys will remain open until Friday, September 25 by 5:00pm. The research findings will be presented to the City Council in early November. To take part in this survey go to www.maplevalleywa.gov/surveys. read more

Our speaker this month is Taryn Hornby with Green River College's Small Business Development Center. She will be discussing what businesses should do to prepare and navigate the new normal of business. Now that businesses are opening back up - what should you be doing in order to plan for the future? Should you be re-evaluating your business plan because of the new normal? Focus on cash flow? How do you navigate PPP and EIDL loans? Bring your questions and she will answer them! read more
