The 2021 Fishing Derby Looks Different This Year!
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, there will be NO Camping In The Park, the Kids Fish Pen or the Fishermens Breakfast this year. We look forward to a more normal 2022 event!!
But the good news is we still have ways that folks can participate in the spirit of the Derby!
Anglers:
The Derby will run between 7am April 24th through 5pm on Sunday, May 2nd. If you catch a fish** on Lake Wilderness, take it to the Hooked on Fishing Banners located at the Boat Launch or at the Beach House and take your picture holding your fish. Post that photo to the 2021 Hooked on Fishing – Lake Wilderness Fishing Derby Facebook page. We will randomly select 10 photo at the end of the Derby. Those selected will receive a fishing or camping related derby prize.
**Washington State fishing season opens on Lake Wilderness on April 24. Anyone over the age of 15 must have a fishing license.
Additional Opportunities for Anglers:
Tagged fish “Hope” XOXO sponsored by Tina McDonough Re/Max Select will be released into Lake Wilderness prior to opening season. If caught between 7am April 24th and 5pm Sunday, May 2nd and verified by the Maple Valley Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce, the angler will receive a cash prize of $200. Please email info@maplevalleychamber.org with a photo of the fish’s tag to verify and receive award. No purchase of a Tagged Fish ticket is necessary this year.

Non Anglers:
Stop down to Lake Wilderness Park between 7am April 24 and 5pm on Sunday, May 2nd and stand in front of the “Hooked on Fishing” banner located at the Boat Launch or at the Beach House.
