10th Annual Opening Day Trout Derby on Lake Wilderness April 27 & 28, 2012
Plan now to attend the 9th annual ‘Hooked on Fishing’ fishing derby sponsored by the Greater Maple Valley - Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Maple Valley Rotary and the City of Maple Valley.
The annual derby held at Lake Wilderness on Opening Day of the fishing season will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th. The event will include the family trout derby with prizes for everyone (derby ticket $2) and the tagged fish derby ($5 ticket must be purchased prior to midnight on Friday, April 27th). Fish school for young anglers 12 and under opens at 6am on the dock. Maple Valley Rotary fires up the grill for hamburgers at 5pm Friday night and breakfast is served from 12:01am until noon on Saturday.
For this once a year event, the City is allowing limited overnight tent camping in the Park for derby participants. (NO RV’s!) Please contact the Chamber of Commerce for more information. Only electric motors on boats are allowed. Boats equipped with Internal combustion motors are prohibited.

Absolutely NO RV PARKING in The Park or near The Lodge; one parking space per vehicle.
Absolutely NO PARKING in the paved lot adjacent to Lake Wilderness Lodge
VOLUNTEER PARKING ONLY in the Public Works gravel parking lot.
There is very limited parking in the meadow near the boat launch because of the high water table.
Boat trailer parking is available at the Maple Valley Community Center and the Church of the Nazarene (24905 Witte Road SE).
Leave trailers in either parking lot and park towing vehicles along the shoulders of the road leading to The Lodge.
Please do not park directly in front of The Den at the Community Center - it will be open Friday night.
Participants are encouraged to carpool and drop off family members who are participating in the event.
