About Maple Valley Youth Symphony
Mission
As the Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra, we will enlighten the minds of young musicians, embrace creativity, achieve excellence, and give back to the community. Throughout this experience, we will encourage development of a strong sense of responsibility and commitment in a fund and safe environment. Written by MVYSO Students
The Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra is youth music education program featuring a playing group for every level.
• Beginning Strings - For the budding musician who would like to learn to play the violin, viola, or cello
• Debut Orchestra - For students with 1 - 3 years of playing experience. Open to students who play stringed, brass, woodwind, or percussion instruments. The music and curriculum are geared toward building confidence and skill in playing and performing in a group setting.
• Philharmonic (Intermediate Orchestra)- For the developing musician. The music and curriculum are geared toward nurturing the young in skill and performance. Generally 2-4 years of playing experience.
• Symphony (Advanced Orchestra) - For advanced students who are looking to be challenged musically with exciting performances. Generally 4+ years of playing experience.
• Small Ensembles (Advanced) - Our small ensemble groups are for advanced students interested in doing more performing and practice. These groups act as ambassadors for the MVYSO and perform for community events when small ensembles are not appropriate for the event.
