About Versatile Designs Interior/Exterior Design

My name is Wendee Mann and I am the owner of Versatile Designs. I form design plans that create interior and exterior spaces that will amaze and inspire you.
I have a degree in interior design and have been practicing my craft for 18 years
I describe my design style by the definitions of Versatile and Designs which is to be capable of doing many things competently , having varied uses serving many functions while remaining open to change and capable of moving freely in all directions. I devise, formulate and create a plan in mind and execute that plan in an artistic and highly skilled manner.

I am not your “typical designer” if there is such a thing, through my career journey I have gained vast knowledge from many trades. I began in the fashion industry and found myself more intrigued by the set up of the space and how it functions than the fashion. Which brought me into the retail/wholesale display industry where I became a freelance display designer which lead me into the trade show industry where I would display for up to 90 different manufacturers. Versatile Designs was a part time company and in 1999 I took the plunge into full time sole proprietorship.

I love to educate and empower homeowners to take care of what is theirs. Show them how to use the right tools to get their hands in on those projects and mind set to get them done. I was recently invited to a one hour seminar on 10 important ways to take care of your home …well I am a hands on person and it has been my experience that you learn much more by doing than listening. The seminar was an hour long to listen to someone talk…for the $125 they were charging you can hire me for four hours and I come with all of my tools and teach you how to use them AS we work on the project. I love getting to hear about peoples’ lives and portray that into the space that surrounds them. It is wonderful to go into a business, discuss and create the function the business needs and see them succeed from the new efficient use of the space. I don’t forget about those outdoor rooms and spaces as I am a nature freak so to speak. I sell perennial plants and bouquets of flower. I teach people how to compost and have a compost system I designed that we sell and build. I educate new homeowners on what is in their newly adopted yards and how to care for them. We design and build garden structures, fences, decks and arbors.

We all have passion for what we do, I would say what separates me from my competition is an old fashion uniqueness of common sense and customer service. My favorite testimonial from a client is.. ”Wendee is like an energized chameleon that transforms herself to see who you are and then carries that into the designs of your space”.
