Maple Valley listed among best cities for families in the U.S.
Maple Valley is among the 10 best towns and cities in the United States for families, according to a survey conducted by Family Circle magazine. The survey and accompanying story appear in the magazine’s August edition on the newsstands today!
Maple Valley, a suburban city of about 23,000 located in southeast King County, fit the survey criteria that analyzed 2,500 cities and towns with populations between 15,000 and 150,000. The survey looked at cities that were considered to be “family friendly” by offering affordable homes, quality schools, access to health care, green space, low crime rate and financial stability. The cities were ranked according to those criteria and a list of finalists was selected. The magazine then did further research, including interviews with people in each city, to determine the 10 most desirable cities.
This announcement also includes the selection of the Brett and Brenda Habenicht family to represent Maple Valley through the personal experiences of a family with kids in the school district and a family with strong community ties. The magazine also contacted the City of Maple Valley, the Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce and the Tahoma School District to gather information about the community.
News conference: To celebrate Maple Valley’s inclusion in the Family Circle survey, there will be an informal news conference beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5 at the Lake Wilderness Lodge. News media will have an opportunity to talk to representatives from the City of Maple Valley, Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce,
