Microsoft Community Connections: Tips & Tricks
Once a quarter the Chamber holds a one-hour Lunch & Learn. Topics have included Investing 101, Social Medial, and Culinary Delights with Scooter Manguso. Last week, the program was Microsoft's 'Focus on Your Business: Tips & Tricks designed to help the small business owner get through everyday tasks more quickly using Office and Windows 7. The class was conducted by Sean Stewart, co-founder of plumThumb, a chamber member company offering affordable relationship marketing programs. Sean is also with Microsoft working in their small and medium sized business segment.
Sean lead us through the ribbon and tool bar enhancements in Office 2010 and talked about how much research Microsoft did to develop a more intuitive product that really provided quicker and easier access to the most used commands ---- once you get used to it. He also showed us how easy it is to use the customize PowerPoint presentations and Word documents to create professional marketing and sales tools.
This is the second class the chamber has offered via The Microsoft Community Connections program. And yes, it is designed to get the Microsoft products in the hands of small business and what better way to do that than to offer chambers the opportunity to sponsor these classes and then give away some free software. The lucky winners of the drawing were Cindy Broome of CMIT Solutions of Greater SE King County who won the Windows 7 Ultimate and Denise Hayes of Outpatient Physical Therapy who won the full Office Professional 2010 Suite. Cost of the class? $10 for members, $20, non-members - an incredible value! Look for the continuation of these classes in 2012.
