Consumer confidence is making news again, as the national
and world economies absorb yet another setback on what is becoming a long road
to recovery. While there may not be much we can do to influence global
economies, there is plenty that can be done locally.
We know all too well that consumer confidence is fragile,
especially after years of recession. But what would happen if we all forgot,
even for a few hours, about debt ceilings, credit ratings and political
confrontations? What if we decided to spend a fine Saturday morning with our
friends and neighbors to shop for locally grown produce, flowers, meats and
other delightful attractions? And to go one better, we also could learn more
about many other goods and services that are available right here in our own
community.
If that sounds like a good way to spend part of your
Saturday then please join us on Sept. 17 at the Maple Valley Farmers' Market for
the annual Prime Time Business Expo. The expo opens at 9 a.m. and ends at 1:30
p.m. in the gymnasium at Rock Creek Elementary School.
There is reassurance in dealing with people face-to-face.
Trust develops and strengthens as local businesses and consumers get to know
each other. It builds community - and confidence.
Local businesses that want to be part of the annual Prime
Time Business Expo, sponsored by the Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of
Commerce, can reserve space now. It is an excellent way to connect with the
community as hundreds of shoppers visit the market.
To learn more or to register, please contact the Chamber
office at 425-432-0222. It costs Chamber members only $75 for a standard
display space. Non-Chamber members are welcome, too! Display spaces are $150
for non-members.
Your Chamber of Commerce is committed to preserving and
improving the high quality of life in our community. Events such as the
Farmers' Market and the Prime Time Business Expo help to grow our community. We
hope to see you there!
