Mickelson's Commentary on July 12th Golf Team Play

We had a fun night this last Monday. Well most of us did. Mike is a little gun shy after some maniac threw their Attack Wedge at him from about 30 yards away. He managed to avoid any serious injury and swept 13 points from Eric VanRuff. Yes I said VanRuff, of the Maple Valley VanRuffs. Eric heads Team Chevron. He is a mighty nice fellow and was a fun person to golf with.

His partner Chuck, on the other hand, beat me up pretty bad. I managed to sneak in a few pars and was putting like Phil Mickelson but it wasn’t enough. This South Paw took 14 points from me. I probably shouldn’t have chucked my Attack Wedge on the 9th hole. But I still managed to hit a 20 foot put from the rough that hit the flag pole and dropped to save me from a double par plus one. I am going to request that Lake Wilderness ban its beverage cart . . . .

Danny cleaned up taking 14 points from his competitor. He started out rough with a double bogey on 1. Then double par plus one on the second hole. After that he destroyed the competition with 3 bogeys, 3 pars and one birdie. For a score of 43. This is definitely going to change his handicap.

Sam, our pro golfer, ended up at one over par. Despite just clearing the women’s tee on the first hole he still managed to par it. Then on the fifth hole he got an Eagle. Way to go. Sam is our consistent golfer. Whoever he is matched up against needs to come out and perform or they will get chewed up and spit out.

We ended up with 41 out of 84 points. That barely dropped us back to 14th place. We are not out of this thing yet. We have been holding our own against some of the best teams out there. Next week we play against ninth ranked Metropolitan Mortgage. They are only 42 points ahead of us in the ranking. Let’s go out guns blasting and switch rankings with them.
