This
year’s annual President’s Dinner & Chamber Celebration on February 10 is in
the spirit of the Oscars. It’s time to
roll out the red carpet and honor our local businesses and once again,
celebrate their successes with the annual Business of the Year Award and the
Economic Engine That Did Award.
The Business of the Year will be chosen from 2011’s quarterly award
winners. Criteria for the Business of
the Year awards include: community involvement and collaboration;
contributions to their respective industry & the business community as a
whole; business performance and growth; personal leadership and courage;
innovative practices, business strategies, and goals; response to changing
conditions and flexibility in these economic times; achievement or awards in
management, staff training and motivation, work place excellence; product
and/or customer service innovation and creativity. Each
one of the nominees is to be congratulated on exceeding the expectations of
their customers and the community.
And the nominees are:
The Jenson
Agency @ Four Corners- Patti Jenson; JavaJava Coffee Company-Brett & Brenda
Habenicht; Cedar Grove Composting-Steve Banchero, Jr., and Flynn
Development-Jim Flynn.
The second annual award is the
Economic Engine That Did Award. This
award is presented to a business that is five years old or less that exhibits
creativity, planning and measurable success that results in consistent growth,
job creation and customer satisfaction.
This is an exceptionally amazing feat given the economic conditions in
the past five years.
And the nominees are:

DaVine-Ken and Cheryl Dunham; Thrive Community Fitness – Chris and Vicki Pallis
and Berge Hovsepian, owners, Tanya Nielsen, Manager; and The Water Distillery-
Bevel Hoffpauir.
